The team of Warmia and Mazury Regional Development Agency in Olsztyn gladly informs that 4th Economic Forum of Baltic and Eastern Markets attracted over 150 participants.
Among our guests were representatives of foreign enterprises from: Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine, Kazachstan, entrepreneurs from Warmia and Mazury and over 30 representatives of local government units, who participated in conferences, seminars and matchmaking session B2B.
The aim of the Forum was to present the possibilities of development of international business cooperation and trade exchange with Baltic and Eastern markets, enable establishing of direct economic contacts with foreign companies and the presentation of Warmia and Mazury investment offer.
The Forum was opened by the Marshal of Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodship, Jacek Protas. First conference was entitled “Global Economy – challenges, threats, chances for Europe 2020?”. Among the speakers were Roland Gustbee – President of Euroregion Baltic, Jerzy Marek Nowakowski – Ambassador of Poland to the Republic of Latvia, representatives of Polish government: vice-minister Tomasz Tomczykiewicz, vice-minister Konrad Niklewicz, Marek Całka – Director of Eastern Department and Bożena Czaja – Member of the Management Board PAIiIZ.
In the matchmaking session which was dedicated mainly to such trades as: agricultural and food processing, tourism, recreation, wood processing and furniture production, construction services and manufacture of doors and windows, took part 30 entrepreneurs from warminsko-mazurskie voivodship and 16 from abroad. The B2B session was prepared by the team of Enterprise Europe Network and additional language support was assured by the students of English and Russian from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.
The subject of the second conference was “New investments as the source of development for eastern Poland macro-region”. In the conference took part: Sławomir Majman – President of the Board in PAIiIZ, Tomasz Sadzyński – President of Łodź Special Economic Zone, Agnieszka Wojnarowska – Director of Regional Development Department PAIiIZ, Radosław Zawadzki – Director of the Promotion Coordination Department, Ewa Cieśla – Director in Advisory Practice PricewaterhouseCoopers. At the end the good investment practice from Warmia and Mazury was presented by the company Acoustics from Elbląg. Acoustics is a Polish local office of Norwegian ACOUSTICS AS which is present on the offshore market since 1998.
The participants could take part in two seminars: “How to create a project meeting customer’s and market’s expectations in the context of industrial design” and “How to effectively enter the Polish market”. The first one was dedicated to Polish entrepreneurs and business environment institutions and conducted by Elżbieta Rozbicka from the Institute of Industrial Design, and the latter was conducted by Law Counsel Cezary Żelaźnicki and dedicated to the entrepreneurs and representatives of partner organizations from abroad.
During the Forum there was a presentation of investment offers of Polish Business Environment Institutions such as Warmińsko-Mazurska Special Economic Zone, Suwałki Special Economic Zone - subzone in Ełk and Gołdap, Military Property Agency Department in Olsztyn, Warmia and Mazury Investor Service Centre - Certified Partner PAIiIZ 2010-2013 (WMRDA in Olsztyn) and municipalities from Warmia and Mazury which are taking part in the project Special Investment Care (SIC).
4th Economic Forum of Baltic and Eastern Markets was implemented under the project "Establishment and development of Investor Assistance Centres network" co-financed by the European Union within the European Fund of Regional Development.
